What is Process Capability (Cp)?

The Cp record is utilized to abridge a framework’s capacity to meet two-sided specification limits (upper and lower). Like Cpk, it uses estimated sigma and, in this manner, demonstrates the framework’s capability to meet the particulars. In any case, it disregards the procedure normal and spotlights on the spread. On the off chance that the framework isn’t focused inside the details, Cp alone might be misleading.

The higher the Cp value, the littler the spread of the framework’s yield. Cp is a measure of spread as it were. A procedure with a thin spread (a high Cp) may not address client issues on the off chance that it isn’t focused inside the specifications.

If the framework is fixated on its objective value, Cp ought to be utilized as a part of conjunction with Cpk to represent both spread and focusing. Cp and Cpk will be equivalent when the procedure is fixated on its objective esteem. On the off chance that they are not equivalent, the littler the distinction between these lists, the more focused the procedure is.

A measure of process capability, figured as a proportion of resistance or particular cutoff points (furthest farthest point – bring down utmost) separated by the process variation (6 standard deviations).

USL = Upper Specified Limit
LSL = Lower Specified Limit
sigma_hat_estimate = Standard deviation (here and now, inside subgroup)

Example:

If a covering procedure is inspected with USL = 0.10, and LSL = 0.05, and the standard deviation = 0.01, at that point the Cp is ascertained as:

Process Capability Part I - Cp
