“My Roadmap to PMP Status” by Pacharo Kuntembwe [Book Review]

Project Management Certifications from the Project Management Institute (PMI) remain amongst the most highly recognized ones on the global scene.

Among all the project management certifications by the PMI, is the Project Management Professional (PMP) certification is the most well-know, as it is awarded to those who have demonstrated sufficient knowledge and experience to competently manage projects.

Some days ago, the author of “My Roadmap to PMP Status”, Pacharo Kuntembwe, sent me a complimentary copy of his book for writing this review.

I must to say that it took some days to read this Kindle book, and therefore being ready before writing this honest book review. Although it really can be read in one day, as the book has 56 Kindle pages (which equals to 35 standard pages).

The book covers step-by-step all the PMP certification process, explained in first person because it is the practical experience of the author taking this exam.

Following you can find the Table of Contents (TOC) of this book:

  • Acknowledgements ………………………………………………………….. iii
  • Preface ………………………………………………………………………….. 1
  • What is this PMP all about? ……………………………………………….. 3
  • What made me go for the PMP? ………………………………………… 7
  • My preparations …………………………………………………………….. 13
  • The Execution 1: General ………………………………………………… 19
  • The Execution 2: Final Deeds …………………………………………… 28
  • The D-Day ……………………………………………………………………. 35
  • The Aftermath ………………………………………………………………. 42
  • The Exit ……………………………………………………………………….. 46
  • Bibliography …………………………………………………………………. 49

The first impression when reading this book is that it is very professionally writen, easy to read, and that may really provide a good perspective of the certification process.

You can learn the steps that the author followed to get certified, how he organized his learning schedule; the websites that he used; and also the exam execution, including the timing management and practical advice.

This book is not for learning the exam contents (for that you will require an Exam Prep book), but for learning the examination process (which is also very important to understand).

In conclusion, a very cheap practical book available at Amazon for only $3.15. So, this is a no brainer, I highly recommend this reading when you prepare your PMP certification.
